Favignana, with Levanzo and Marettimo, belongs to the group of islands named Aegadian. The three “sisters” have been given the status first of a Natural Reserve and then of the Protected Marine Area of Aegadian Island. Thanks to these institutions, Favignana maintains almost perfectly intact it’s natural beauty and it’s historical traces. On the island time flows with it’s own rithm and you can breath a pictoresque atmosphere which endlessly marks your heart and soul. It maybe because of the signs left behind from the prehistorical men, the Phoenicians, the Romans, maybe because of the evident and various proof of a recent past connected to the “mattanza” (killing) of the tuna and the Florio tuna factory, or maybe, simply,because of it’s untouched nature and fish abuntant crystal sea. Favignana port is just a few minutes away on foot: this is the place of arrival and departure of ferries and hydrofoils to and from Trapani and the other Aegadian Islands. Very near are also bus stops which guarantee transport from the town to the beaches and corners of the island, as for other tourist services usefull for living the island in the best possible way (motorbike, moped, bicycle rental, tours around the island on boat, etc.). FAVIGNANA WITH RYAN AIR
Trapani airport is perfectly connected to the rest of Italy and to Europoe thanks to the several fights made by RyanAir, which has (from the 1st May 2009) an its operative base, the southernmost base in Europe. From the airport it is easily reachable Trapani port then Favignana.
